“We offer both a Japanese (Teppanyaki) and a Chinese-Japanese menu with sushi and tasty small dishes such as pancakes with Peking duck, but also a luxurious lobster dish. We also have a large delivery service where both kitchens can be combined. We deliver in Eindhoven, Veldhoven, Waalre, Valkenswaard, Eersel, Geldrop, Heeze, Leende, Best and Nuenen.
The building can rightly be called iconic in Eindhoven. The pillars were taken from Victoria Station in London. In addition, we have the perfect location in terms of parking options, roads and being located with lovelyEindhoven is just around the corner.”
A big challenge
All in all, it is a major operation: About 35 people work at Oriental Green House, who normally provide the perfect guest experience seven days a week. Before the start of the corona crisis, there were 55 employees themselves, but the pandemic threw a spanner in the works.
“Because we already had a substantial delivery service, we immediately went sky high in the first weeks of the corona crisis. Of course that didn’t make up for the loss of turnover we suffered in the restaurant itself, but at least we were able to keep our chefs working. The management has started to help with the delivery.”
Besides Oriental Green House there is also a second place: Ikigai. “With this case, we only started delivery in November. It has been difficult to be well respected by the consumer. Fortunately, that is now working well and I expect that when we can open again later, we will be able to pay the fixed costs more easily.”
Post COVID-19
Simon has a clear idea about his restaurants and the sector post pandemic: “COVID-19 means society is changing much faster than expected. Working from home makes a huge leap. The turnover from delivery and takeaway will certainly remain higher than before corona. The challenge also lies in the fact that you want to keep your prices at a level, but at the same time remove as many barriers as possible for the buyer. It is a big challenge to keep as much turnover as possible on your own order site: So flyer smartly and maintain a lot of contact with your guests. Then you’ll get there.
Restaurant visits will probably slowly start again, but as soon as all restrictions are lifted, we will hopefully return to a busier phase. All of this at a cost, of course, because many people have been hit hard in the economic field.”
Together With Sitedish
“We linked Sitedish to Oriental Green House when it was still called Cheetahweb. We also chose Sitedish for Ikigai. The good thing is that it always works. It is also great that Thuisbezorgd and Uber Eats orders are loaded. We make extensive use of the marketing functions and statistics. This allows you to steer well on the interesting postal code areas and to move around with the popular dishes. We also regularly send our guests a push message.”
